Tax Alert – Jobkeeper Update

You may have seen in recent media reports that the Job Keeper payment for 16 and 17 year olds has been altered.  For this group, they must be classified as being “financially independent” in their own right if they are to receive Job Keeper payments going forward.  As a result of the change part way through, the ATO have advised any payments made to 16 or 17 years olds for the first 3 fortnights of the program (so the fortnight ending 10 May) will still be eligible for Job Keeper, but will fall out of the system from May 10 Onwards.

In addition, the ATO have advised that any 16 or 17 year olds must resubmit an Employee Nomination Form to their employer based on the new set of criteria.
If you have 16 or 17 year olds that you employ in your business the following link is to the updated Employee Nomination Form for this group.  If this relates to you, could you please have any 16 or 17 year olds resubmit to you this form and supply us with a copy for the ATO records.
